To get curly voluminous lashes, FORGET using lash serums
If you’ve ever considered using a lash serum to achieve fuller lashes, I urge you to read on. In just a few minutes, you’ll discover why this popular beauty trend might not be worth your time and money.
With so many lash serums going viral on TikTok, it’s easy to be swayed by the promise of longer lashes. As a leading lash technician, Cathy Hetch gets asked over and over again, what are the best options for voluminous curly lashes.
The most common question is: “Lash curlers and mascara wear out after a few hours, should I use a lash serum to get longer curlier lashes?”
My answer is no 90% of the time and here’s why:

Considering there are so many lash serum brands going viral on TikTok, you might be surprised to hear that they are pretty much useless.
First of all, you might have been told that these serums give your lashes more length, and that’s TRUE.
Prostaglandin analogs, which is the most common ingredient in lash serums that promote lash growth, are the compounds that work by extending the growth phase of the lashes, which in turn allows them to grow longer.
However, it doesn’t permanently alter the lash cycle. Lashes have a natural growth cycle that involves phases of growth, rest, and shedding, and when you stop using a lash serum, your lashes will eventually return to their previous state. This is because the lash serum was helping to extend the growth phase of the lashes, but when you stop using it, the lash growth cycle returns to its normal pattern.
This means if you want to have longer lashes that stay, you have to keep using a lash serum forever, and I’m the first one to tell you, they are not cheap!
Secondly, 90% of women have straight lashes, which means that when they use a lash serum, yes, their lashes will become longer, but they will still be straight and look the exact same as when they were shorter.
It’s not about the length of your lashes that gives it that voluminous look, it’s ALL ABOUT THE CURL.
Now I advise you to do what Emma did to get voluminous curly lashes all from her natural lashes, which are usually short & straight.

“Like many people, I was born with short and straight lashes that refused to curl no matter what I did. I tried everything from hot lash curlers to volumizing mascaras, but nothing seemed to work. It was disheartening to see other people with thick, curly lashes that made their eyes pop while mine remained flat and lifeless.
At some point, I had simply given up on the idea of ever having the voluminous lashes I desired. That was until I stumbled upon the viral lash serums on TikTok. I decided to give them a try, hoping they would be the miracle I had been waiting for. To my surprise, they actually worked a little bit and my lashes grew a few millimeters longer. However, they were still stubbornly straight, leaving me unsatisfied with the results.
Until I met Cathy (lash technician) who recommended a product that gave me the voluminous, curly lashes I had always wanted – and all from my natural lashes!
This product was usually only available as an expensive salon treatment, costing £80 every six weeks. However, with the at-home treatment she recommended, it only cost me £0.13 per day and was practically hassle-free.
Usually a salon treatment that costed £80 every 6 weeks, but with this at-home treatment it costs you just £0.13 per day! An almost maintenance and hassle free treatment you do yourself at home every 8 weeks in just 20 minutes that allows you to wake up to voluminous curly lashes every day.
I’m talking about the Sassy Saints DIY At-Home Lash Lift Kit.“
Lash lifting is the go-to treatment for anyone looking to add some serious curve and drama to their natural lashes. But what exactly is it and how does it work?
A lash lift is a beauty treatment that involves curling and lifting your eyelashes. The process works by using a solution to break down the natural bonds in your lashes so that they can be shaped into a curl. Once the lashes have been curled, a neutralizer solution is applied to re-form the bonds, setting the lashes into their new shape.
To go into more detail:
- Solution 1 (Stick it)
Allows you to shape your lash hairs around a silicone shield that has been chosen to match the curvature of the natural lash line. Basically, setting them in the curl position you’re looking for. - Solution 2 (Shape It)
Contains a combination of keratin, collagen, and a reducing agent called thioglycolic acid. The reducing agent breaks down the hair bonds that hold the keratin proteins in place (this makes your lashes stay in a certain position), allowing the lashes to be molded into the desired shape. - Solution 3 (Fix It)
After the lashes have been molded into the desired shape, Solution 3 (Fix It) is applied to re-form the hair bonds and “set” the lashes in their new position. The Fix It solution contains sodium bromate, which helps to reform the hair bonds and lock in the new shape of the lashes for 8 weeks.
It sounds like a lot, but the process is actually really easy and only takes 20 minutes. Plus, the Sassy Saints kit comes with super easy-to-follow video instructions that show you step by step how to do the treatment.
Witness the results yourself (lasting 8 weeks)
